Prior to entering the Psychology and Law program, MJ earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Statistics and Philosophy from the University of Florida — Go Gators! During her undergraduate career, she conducted research on eyewitness testimony and laypersons’ perceptions of attorneys under the mentorship of Dr. Brian Cahill. MJ also gained practical experience as a Victims Advocate Intern at the Alachua County Sheriff’s Department, where she observed prosecutorial legal proceedings firsthand. Currently, MJ’s research interests center on legal decision-making, particularly plea bargaining, with a focus on how these processes impact vulnerable and minority populations. Her primary advisor is Dr. Jacqueline Katzman.
